11th Annual Alumni Invitational, Gallery II :Forget Me / Forget Me Not
Each year, The University Galleries are host to School of Art & Design Alumni. This year, however, the invitees each return after a decade where they were classmates, friends and peers. Using an exhibition structure curated by alum Jen Lopez, this exhibition features works in which the artists use their current creative practices to revisit an assignment of their choice as a point of origin - reworked and translated through a decade of experiences.
Exhibiting artists include: Adam Bradley, Carlos Cuevas, Kevin Parks Hauser, Pamela Henderson, Kenneth Holland, Sarah Knobel, Stephanie Nance, Michael O’Brien, Paul Panamarenko, Brandon Petree, Renee Riddle, Jassie Rios and Mark Taylor.
Opening Reception: September 27 5 -7 p.m
M.F.A. in Studio Art Thesis Exhibition
BALTIMORE--The summer thesis exhibition for the M.F.A. in Studio Art (MFAST) program will feature the work of 10 graduating artists from this unique low-residency program. Designed to expand understanding of contemporary art through research-based studio practice, this interdisciplinary program consists of four intensive six-week summer residencies combined with independent work during the academic year. Areas of concentration include the full range of contemporary art practices. Although the program promotes interdisciplinary approaches to art production, students are encouraged to work in ways most appropriate to their individual research.
The exhibition will include combinations of drawing, film, installation, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, sound and video.
Participating artists: Katya Chilingiri, Natalia González, Fritz Horstman, Cassandra Kapsos, Todd Keyser, Angela Lane, Juliana Parroni, Jassie Rios, Brooke Sturtevant-Sealover and Rebecca Zilinski
Hours for MICA's galleries, which are free and open to the public, are Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sundays, noon-5 p.m. They are closed on major holidays.
